“Poetrywalking” is an account of my outer and inner journey of courage and renewal, while walking Te Araroa (South Island) with my friends Sarah and Sandi, from December 26th 2015 until sometime near the end of March 2016.
“Poetrywalking” will be a record of this adventure for myself, and will also be a way to let family and friends know THAT we’re still doing, how we’re doing and where we have got to. So you can ‘be with us’ and share some of my / our adventures in this limited way.
I want do this through poems and maybe a few lines of story, possibly with some photos, depending on how my blogging and electronics skills develop over the course of the walk. I don’t promise daily, or even weekly posts. Just when the mood grabs me and when internet access is available.
Why poetry?
Poetry nudges
me into a different way of knowing
opening a space for being with
feeling into and
finding words
that capture my experience,
in a way that everyday writing can’t;
and I love it.
